Chic Over 50

fashion over 60

Let me share something with you –  looking stylish and fashionable is not only for  the young. If you are over 60, believe me,  life is far from over (I think it’s a new beginning). It’s time to drop all ideas you have of being too old to look great, get a new perspective on style, unleash your fashionista and become chic over 60!

Where do you begin?

Take a good look at your wardrobe – it has a big impact on how you feel. Do you like what you wear? Do you get dressed with ease? Do you feel confident in your clothing choices? If you answered, ‘No’, this is where you begin:

1.  Get rid of any item of clothing that doesn’t fit well, feel great or you don’t feel comfortable wearing. Clothing has a huge impact on how we feel, so start today to make changes.  As you are going through your closet make a note of any recurring problems, i.e. clothes that ride up and pull, clothes that itch and scratch.  Once you know the common mistakes you are making you are less likely to repeat them.

2.  Choose an outfit from your closet that you like and enjoy wearing (I’m sure there’s at least one) and ask yourself why you like it. Whatever your answer, this will be a clue to what you’ll look for in your future purchases. If you didn’t find a particular outfit, go through Pinterest and look for outfits that inspire you. Then ask yourself what you like about them.

3.  Now it’s time to look at your accessories. Accessories absolutely dress up an outfit – don’t go without them.  For a quick fashion update choose fashionable accessories.  For example, a trendy handbag will add pizzazz to your outfit and make you look younger.

4.    Choose styles in easy care fabrics that glide easily over your body and give you freedom to move. Don’t wear baggy, shapeless clothing to hide a few pounds. Instead wear V–necks to lengthen the upper body and tops that move smoothly over the tummy.

The key to looking chic over 60 is first to find a style you love and then own it.  Even subtle changes in your clothing, hair and makeup can make you feel and look like you’ve had a facelift and a trainer.
