How to Use Accessories to Add Variety to Your Wardrobe

Accessories are a girl’s best friend – and you thought it was diamonds. 🙂 Not only can accessories give you a more versatile wardrobe, you can also use them to update garments, express your creativity, pull pieces together and add colour and variety to your wardrobe.

Accessories are: Jewelry, scarves, belts, hosiery, watches, shawls, capes, wraps, shoes, handbags, eyeglasses and hats.

Most women love jewelry but many are afraid to experiment with accessories because they aren’t sure how to integrate them into their wardrobe and don’t know which styles look best on them.

The right accessories complement your face shape, your colouring, your clothes combination, your body shape and your unique style. Here are a few ways to add variety to your wardrobe with accessories:

1.  Use an accessory to bring separate pieces together. As shown here, you can use the colours in a scarf  to tie an outfit together.

2.  Use accessories as a focal point. If you have a great waist, show it off with a belt. A belt (in a contrasting or same colour) can also be used to add interest to a dress or be the transition from a skirt, pants and top. If you have great legs wear fabulous shoes. Emphasize great skin by wearing your best colours next to your face (scarf or necklace).

3.   Jazz up a plain dress with a bold necklace. You can also add a jacket to change the look of the dress or you can use a belt or scarf to add interest instead of a necklace.

4.  Add pizzazz to a neutral garment by adding colour.
As shown, you can change the look of a white top and grey skirt simply by changing the accessories. The neutral could be black, brown, tan, navy, etc.
